Affordable Basics at H&M

Like any person, I love a good deal. H&M is my go to place for affordable basics. My sweater, skirt and shoes are all under $20 each. The skirt was only $10. Since it is velvet, there was no way I was going to leave without it. It is the perfect neutral color to dress up or down. H&M is my go to place for affordable, trendy basics. I love souring the sale racks for deals. The pink shoes were a last-minute find. I saw them as I was coming out of the fitting room, and even happier that there was one pair in my size left. For $15 I was sold. They are very comfy as I have already worn them for date night with David and plan on wearing them to an upcoming wedding. Where do you like to shop for trendy and affordable basics?

Distressed White Denim + Leopard

I have always been a tab bit self-conscious about wearing white denim. I always thought it made me look curvier than I already am. However, I have found the perfect pair of white skinny jeans that accentuates my curves in all of the right places. This distressed pair from Topshop is actually my first high-waisted pair of denim. I am only 5′ 3.5″ and curvy, so a high-waisted pair really keeps me sucked in and eliminates any plumber crack issues for me. They are super stretchy, but keep their shape all day. The distressing was just a bonus since I like my denim with some rips. I like distressed denim almost as much as I love leopard. I am convinced that I pretty much like any color scheme of leopard. This leopard tee with a gray leopard-print was something that I did not have in my closet and decided that it needed to be there immediately. I actually sized up for a looser fit.

Pink Pleated Skirt

A pleated skirt is a must-have wardrobe piece, especially when it is pink. This skirt  immediately caught my eye because not only is it pink, but it is velvet. Y’all know how I feel about anything velvet. Total heart eyes! The pink pleats add a girly silhouette making this skirt a fun piece to be worn many ways. I dressed it down with a white tee and platform sneakers. The bag just added a fun pop of color. Plus, what is not to love about velvet on velvet? Also, here is a fun fact about me, I paired this pink and blue together because it reminded me of my wedding colors. Anything involving my wedding is a happy place for me, so pairing the two colors together was a no brainer. I have so many ideas on how to wear this skirt. I actually bought a pair of pink satin heels that I cannot wait to pair with this skirt.  This skirt will be a staple in my closet year-round.

Distressed Green Striped Pullover

This past weekend David and I got to experience Fall-like weather. We visited Indianapolis to hang out with friends and explore the city for the first time. This striped pullover with distressing was perfect. It kept me warm when it was cooler in the mornings, but it  also provided me with my own a/c with the rips when the weather warned up during the day. Green has definitely been my go to color as of lately. I cannot stop buying it. I had been on the hunt for the perfect pair of leopard flats for a while now. I have bought pair after pair only to return them because they were not what I was looking for. Either I did not like the leopard pattern or they just were not comfortable. These leopard flats are perfect in every way. They were super comfortable for walking all around downtown Indy. The back can also be folded in to be converted into a mule. I have only worn them as a traditional flat and will probably only wear them that way since I already have leopard mules.

Leopard Ombre Cardigan

Now that Fall is officially here, dressing for it while living in a warm-weather climate can be a challenge.  Living in Tampa, I am desperate to break out sweaters and booties. The reality of that is that I would melt by lunch. It is all about light layers and Fall colors. I love burgundy, orange, gray, black, hunter green, and leopard as a nice pop of color.  Leopard is a print that I will never get enough of. I was immediately drawn to this cardigan because not only is it leopard, but it is ombre leopard. It also helped that it is only $25. It is the perfect light-weight layer for Tampa. We do not get seasons here. We just get warm, hot, and hotter. I however, am always cold, so I like keeping a light-weight cardigan in my bag to throw on over a a tank or cami when I get cold. This leopard cardi is perfect for that. It looks good with jeans, over dresses, and will be a staple in my closet year round.

How to do Fall in Warm Weather

Here I break down 10 items to incorporate into a Fall-like wardrobe while still dressing for summer weather that can easily transition when the weather actually cools down. Everything can be mixed and matched together to create multiple different outfits.

  1. Tissue Turtlenecks – I love these from J. Crew and have a few in different colors. They literally are as thin as tissue without being sheer and very easy to layer.
  2. Leopard Flats – I love leopard anything, but I love them even more when they are in the form of shoes. I have these, and they are so comfortable. These will jazz up any outfit. They can we worn as normal flats or as mules with the convertible back. I just wear them normal.
  3. Distressed Denim Jacket – This belongs in everyone wardrobe. Wear with jeans, skirts, dresses, etc. See how I styled it here.
  4. Lace Camis – I own these in a few different colors and wear them often.  They are perfect to layer under sweaters, cardis, and denim jackets.
  5. Distressed Denim – I cannot get enough of distressed denim. Most of all of my jeans have some distressing. I prefer a dark wash that is high-waisted. They are super flattering, they suck you in, and if you are short like me they make you appear taller.
  6. Maxi Dresses – I have this dress and love it! Maxi dresses in a Fall color will take you from day to date night and will keep you cool. Wear with flats during the day and pair with heels for date night. See how I styled this maxi dress here.
  7. Printed Cardigan –  I love this Aztec-printed cardigan. It also comes in white, too. I knew I would get the most wear out of the black one because it will go with everything. I will wear pair it over the lace camis, tissue turtlenecks and with jeans. It is super light-weight and has three-quarter length sleeves.
  8. Black High-Waisted Skinny Jeans – These are BOMB! They are supper stretchy but do not stretch out by the end of the day. They hold their shape and really suck everything in. These are a staple in my closet.
  9. Anything Velvet – I love velvet anything, especially in shoes and bags. It adds a nice texture pop to any outfit. I love these shoes especially that they are green and are super comfortable. See how I style velvet here.
  10. Anything Camo – Aside from leopard, camo is my favorite print. You do not have to spend alot of money on camo. It is sold everywhere. My favorite way to wear camo is in the form of shirts.

Velvet Gucci Marmont

Velvet anything is the perfect accessory to incorporate into your fall wardrobe and beyond. I do not care if I live in Florida where it never gets cold, I will wear velvet year round. I love velvet shoes and bags. More than how they look, I think I really love the texture of it. These shoes are another awesome Target find at $25. They are super comfy and perfect for running around all day in. I also bought these and love them just as much. The bag on the other hand is more of a splurge, but that cobalt color had me seeing heart eyes at first look. These pics do not do this bag justice. It is absolutely beautiful in person. It also comes in a beautiful pink that I have my eye on. How do you like to wear your velvet?

Hunter Green Maxi Dress

I had been looking for some easy maxi dresses that I could not only run errands in but also dress up for date night with David. I have worn this maxi with flats during the day, and then switch them out for heels for a night out. Since Fall is nowhere near on the horizon for Tampa, I have been trying to incorporate Fall colors into my wardrobe. With green easily becoming my favorite color for Fall and beyond, this maxi dress was exactly what I was looking for. The side slits also add the extra benefit of keeping me cool.  It also comes in six other colors, and at $12, it is a steal. These Target shoes are OMG AMAZING! I have never worn a more comfortable pair of heels. They make your legs look amazing and then some. They are my current go to shoe for date night and look great with everything.

Distressed Denim Jacket Perfection

Distressed denim is my favorite. I actually love distressed anything. A similar jacket actually caught my eye from TopShop during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, but I thought it way too distressed for my liking.  This jacket from Nordstrom Rack has just enough rips for me, and an even better price point at $40. I have worn it with jeans, over dresses, and its my go to travel layer for those chilly plane rides. Now, let’s talk about these leopard slides. How fun are these? They are only $38! I am really loving loafer mules right now. It seems to be the type of shoe I am buying alot lately. They are so easy to slide into and go.

Camo is my favorite print. I find any excuse to wear it. I especially love its versatility. I have always considered my style to be tomboy glam. My new way to pair camo is with the color cognac. I have been looking for a pair of casual, cognac colored shoes. I also wanted to give this mule trend a try, but did not want to spend alot of money. These Target mules solved that very problem. They are trendy and comfy. I kind of have my eyes on the black ones as well. Shoe addict problems…

Floral Print Dress…

A floral print equals spring. It can be an overwhelming print. If you are not used to wearing a vibrant print with lots of colors, muted tones in a floral motif may be better for you. I was attracted to this dress because the print is floral, but the colors are muted. They are not your typical bright, floral print. This way I still get to enjoy wearing flowers, but don’t feel overly obnoxious and feel like I am wearing an old couch. Aside, from the florals in this dress, I really love its shape and movement. It is so flowy and makes my waist look super tiny. What woman doesn’t want a tinier waist?
