Leopard Ombre Cardigan

Now that Fall is officially here, dressing for it while living in a warm-weather climate can be a challenge.  Living in Tampa, I am desperate to break out sweaters and booties. The reality of that is that I would melt by lunch. It is all about light layers and Fall colors. I love burgundy, orange, gray, black, hunter green, and leopard as a nice pop of color.  Leopard is a print that I will never get enough of. I was immediately drawn to this cardigan because not only is it leopard, but it is ombre leopard. It also helped that it is only $25. It is the perfect light-weight layer for Tampa. We do not get seasons here. We just get warm, hot, and hotter. I however, am always cold, so I like keeping a light-weight cardigan in my bag to throw on over a a tank or cami when I get cold. This leopard cardi is perfect for that. It looks good with jeans, over dresses, and will be a staple in my closet year round.

How to do Fall in Warm Weather

Here I break down 10 items to incorporate into a Fall-like wardrobe while still dressing for summer weather that can easily transition when the weather actually cools down. Everything can be mixed and matched together to create multiple different outfits.

  1. Tissue Turtlenecks – I love these from J. Crew and have a few in different colors. They literally are as thin as tissue without being sheer and very easy to layer.
  2. Leopard Flats – I love leopard anything, but I love them even more when they are in the form of shoes. I have these, and they are so comfortable. These will jazz up any outfit. They can we worn as normal flats or as mules with the convertible back. I just wear them normal.
  3. Distressed Denim Jacket – This belongs in everyone wardrobe. Wear with jeans, skirts, dresses, etc. See how I styled it here.
  4. Lace Camis – I own these in a few different colors and wear them often.  They are perfect to layer under sweaters, cardis, and denim jackets.
  5. Distressed Denim – I cannot get enough of distressed denim. Most of all of my jeans have some distressing. I prefer a dark wash that is high-waisted. They are super flattering, they suck you in, and if you are short like me they make you appear taller.
  6. Maxi Dresses – I have this dress and love it! Maxi dresses in a Fall color will take you from day to date night and will keep you cool. Wear with flats during the day and pair with heels for date night. See how I styled this maxi dress here.
  7. Printed Cardigan –  I love this Aztec-printed cardigan. It also comes in white, too. I knew I would get the most wear out of the black one because it will go with everything. I will wear pair it over the lace camis, tissue turtlenecks and with jeans. It is super light-weight and has three-quarter length sleeves.
  8. Black High-Waisted Skinny Jeans – These are BOMB! They are supper stretchy but do not stretch out by the end of the day. They hold their shape and really suck everything in. These are a staple in my closet.
  9. Anything Velvet – I love velvet anything, especially in shoes and bags. It adds a nice texture pop to any outfit. I love these shoes especially that they are green and are super comfortable. See how I style velvet here.
  10. Anything Camo – Aside from leopard, camo is my favorite print. You do not have to spend alot of money on camo. It is sold everywhere. My favorite way to wear camo is in the form of shirts.

Velvet Gucci Marmont

Velvet anything is the perfect accessory to incorporate into your fall wardrobe and beyond. I do not care if I live in Florida where it never gets cold, I will wear velvet year round. I love velvet shoes and bags. More than how they look, I think I really love the texture of it. These shoes are another awesome Target find at $25. They are super comfy and perfect for running around all day in. I also bought these and love them just as much. The bag on the other hand is more of a splurge, but that cobalt color had me seeing heart eyes at first look. These pics do not do this bag justice. It is absolutely beautiful in person. It also comes in a beautiful pink that I have my eye on. How do you like to wear your velvet?

Hunter Green Maxi Dress

I had been looking for some easy maxi dresses that I could not only run errands in but also dress up for date night with David. I have worn this maxi with flats during the day, and then switch them out for heels for a night out. Since Fall is nowhere near on the horizon for Tampa, I have been trying to incorporate Fall colors into my wardrobe. With green easily becoming my favorite color for Fall and beyond, this maxi dress was exactly what I was looking for. The side slits also add the extra benefit of keeping me cool.  It also comes in six other colors, and at $12, it is a steal. These Target shoes are OMG AMAZING! I have never worn a more comfortable pair of heels. They make your legs look amazing and then some. They are my current go to shoe for date night and look great with everything.

Distressed Denim Jacket Perfection

Distressed denim is my favorite. I actually love distressed anything. A similar jacket actually caught my eye from TopShop during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, but I thought it way too distressed for my liking.  This jacket from Nordstrom Rack has just enough rips for me, and an even better price point at $40. I have worn it with jeans, over dresses, and its my go to travel layer for those chilly plane rides. Now, let’s talk about these leopard slides. How fun are these? They are only $38! I am really loving loafer mules right now. It seems to be the type of shoe I am buying alot lately. They are so easy to slide into and go.

Nude Lipsticks and Lip glosses

Nude is my all-time favorite color of lipstick and lip gloss to wear on an everyday basis. It is the perfect color to throw on and run errands.  It is the color I am most picky about wearing because it has to compliment my skin tone perfectly. In order to know which nude will work for you, you will have to take into account your natural lip color and the undertones in your face.  My lips are pink and brown with my bottom lip being pink while my top lip is more brown. I usually have one or two nudes in my purse at all times.  Here are my favorites that compliment me well.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Sepia

This perfect brown lip gloss is high pigmented and smells like sugar cookies. Yum! I always have this color in my bag at all times.

Chanel Giggle

This color is my all-time favorite lip gloss. I wear this color the most to work and when I am out running errands. It is my perfect nude gloss and is the exact color of my lips.  It is just as perfect for the office as it is for date night. I always have a back up of it at home so it is always on hand if I run out. If this color were to ever be discontinued, I would be devastated.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Celebrity Skin

I am already obsessed by everything from this brand and look forward to all of the new launches. This color is my favorite nude liquid lipstick. If you an unfamiliar with liquid lipsticks, they are long-wearing and transfer proof. They go on wet and dry to a matte finish. This color looks good on all complexions because of its versatility. There is also a cream lipstick version launching soon. It is definitely on my to buy list.

Kat Von D Beauty Bow ‘n Arrow

This coveted nude liquid lipstick is frequently out of stock online at Sephora. This color is similar to Celebrity Skin being a liquid lipstick, but is a lighter brown while Celebrity Skin has a bit of pink in it.

MAC Cosmetics Fresh Brew

This lipstick is a barely there nude. It looks almost like gloss on me, which I love. This is the color I put on when I am rushing out of the door, because it glides on easily. It is a creamy, latte colored brown. I usually have this in my purse along with Sepia.

A.J.Crimson Beauty No Shade

I have had my eye on this color for a while. It is always sold out online, which is why I was thrilled it was in stock from The Make Up Club during a recent visit. It is my perfect nude lipstick. It is a slightly creamy, matte brown color. It happens to be one of my husband’s favorite.

What are your favorite nudes?

Mixing Black & Blue…

Blue Camo Dress: Nordstrom; Similar | Shoes: Dolce Vita | Earrings: BaubleBar; Similar | Watch: Coach; Similar | Bracelets: Kluster | Sunglasses: BP | Blue Saddle Bag: J. Crew | Lipstick: Deadly Nightshade

Blue and black were not two colors that I thought paired well together. I thought mixing them was a faux paux, kind of like mixing black and brown. However, they actually look great together, especially when it comes in the form of one of my favorite prints. Camo of course! I had been on a hunt for the perfect black saddle bag for the last few months. The ones I found were either too small or too big. This one from J. Crew is the perfect size. The combination of it being both blue and black was unique to me. Also, the calf hair also sealed the deal. I love calf hair. It makes an interesting accessory. It comfortably fits my make up bag, my wallet, keys and iPhone 6. I highly recommend it.

The Perfect Flare Jeans…

I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of flare jeans for my petite frame. The challenge has been that they are always so long even with heels. Getting them hemmed is not an option with flare jeans if you want to wear them with heels. It changes the shape. Getting them in petite sizing is not an option either if you want to wear them with heels. They become looking too short. So after trying on numerous pairs, I decided to give American Eagle a chance. I was reluctant at first. I had not bought jeans from there since I was in high school. Luckily, I found the most perfectly distressed, flare jeans. I love these flares! They hug curves in all of the right places and make me feel like I have legs for days.

As a woman, I naturally love shopping. Shoes and bags are usually my go to splurges. I also love being a savvy shopper by saving money. Who doesn’t right? I love a good dupe for a designer bag, especially one that I know I won’t carry often. I like to rotate my bags to give them all love. Above are a few splurge vs. save ideas.

Packing can be a hassle.  I always over pack, especially shoes. Then I end up only wearing half of what I packed and one pair of shoes. I have learned that the key to not over packing is to stay organized. Picking a similar color palette is key. That way everything can be mixed and matched together. For the first time in a long time, I actually did this for my trip to New York. Above are all of my looks that will be making their way in my suitcase.
